Our Management Team

Michael Nott, President and Director

Mr. Nott is an accomplished oil and natural gas geologist who has been working as a professional geologist since 1999. Currently Mr. Nott is a project geologist in the Unconventional Gas Research Group with the Alberta Research Council which is primarily involved with the research and testing of Coal Bed Methane and Shale gas. From 1999 to 2005, he worked as a Well Analyst and Hydrocarbon Geologist in Calgary, Alberta. He has field experience across North America including Alberta, Saskatchewan and Colorado. Mr. Nott graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta.

Robert Coale, Director

Mr. Coale is a Professional Engineer with two engineering degrees
(1963 - MetE. - Colorado School of Mines, 1971 - MSc. - University of the Witwaterstrand in South Africa) and an MBA from the University of Minnesota (1982). He has over 40 years of resource related business and management experience. Recently he was Senior Project Manager for a privately held engineering and construction company where he was responsible for development of natural gas and landfill gas engine generator plants and worked as a design engineer for liquefied and compressed natural gas storage and fueling facilities. Mr. Coale is currently an independent consulting engineer specializing in mineral processing and natural gas fueling systems including development of projects for converting low-grade or stranded natural gas sources into liquefied natural gas.

Ron Daems, Director

Mr. Daems brings extensive financial and resource industry experience to Giant Oil & Gas. In the span of his career he has focused primarily on business development, strategic planning and financial analysis, while serving as project manager for numerous capital ventures. From 2000 through 2003, Mr. Daems was a portfolio manager for a multinational investment firm. In 2004, Mr. Daems founded and became the CEO of Emerging Business Solutions, a privately held business development company focused primarily on assisting startup companies in the resource sector to develop their land acquisition strategies and their operational and administrative systems. Since January 2007, Mr. Daems has also served as President and CEO of Capex Energy Services, a privately held company.
